Now that I have a small library of videos, what’s my next step? How do I distribute them to make a big viral splash? YouTube is considered a national platform so I can’t use it. I need an Indiana based solution.

First congratulations on getting a collection of videos together. Now that you have this powerful promotional tool, your instinct to make the most out of it is spot on.
Streaming video over the web eats up a lot of bandwidth. The appeal of YouTube is you are using their bandwidth instead of yours. You can stream videos from any web server, though. You can upload it to the same server your web site is on. The catch is you need to embed the raw video file in a player. Flash is a common way to do this, even if the video is the only part of your site that uses Flash. Consult your local web geek for more details.
You might also consider creating a Facebook page for your business and uploading the videos there. You wouldn’t stream the videos from there, but people visiting you on Facebook could view the videos. Not Indiana enough? Try joining the community at Smaller Indiana and uploading your videos there.
The web is ideal for going viral, but it isn’t the only use you can get out of your video. Here are some other ideas:
- Leave one of your videos playing on the screen before a seminar or workshop.
- Send a DVD to referral partners for them to show around.
- Find other businesses that share your target market and put all your videos together on a single DVD to distribute.
- Play the videos in a loop in your reception area.
